This is Faatimah, I more recent addition to the Lack a Silver Lining characters. An Arabic Muslim American woman who was born in America, and her family was pretty naturalized before she was born, and she's not nearly the greatest Muslim anyway (notice: none of my characters are particularly religious).

She's, more than Sylvia or Lily of my female characters, a plot device. I fully admit to that. In my ideas of the plot, she's meant to help Marten (who was crippled in an act of terrorism in Israel) overcome his slight racism, and to bolster Sylvia's role to the others, in my eyes atleast. The plot line with her, if I were ever to actually write LaSL would follow her being a romantic interest for Marten, and a good friend for Sylvia, since it would make someone outside of the initial group (read: Marten, Seth, Lily). Sylvia would then be the one who kicks Marten in his numb leg to get him up and see what's meant to be in the world. Marten and Faatimah's relationship would be fairly ill-fated, though. More art that I'm posting later in the week will illuminate that one, though.
